Top hatter chimney sweep — Portland, OR

Last updated: September 24, 2026

What affects the price

The final cost for your chimney service depends on a few specific factors. We look at the total height of the chimney stack, the level of creosote buildup inside the flue, and whether you have a standard masonry fireplace or a prefabricated metal insert. If there are structural blockages like nests or excessive debris that require extra labor, that will also adjust the estimate. We avoid hidden fees, but every setup is unique, so we evaluate the condition of your liner and firebox upon inspection.

About this service

A top hatter sweep focuses on the full extraction of soot and debris from the chimney crown down to the firebox. This cleaning is vital for maintaining proper ventilation and preventing the dangerous buildup of flammable materials. You should request this service if you use your fireplace multiple times a week or if it has been a long time since your last inspection. Keeping the chimney interior clear ensures that your fireplace operates safely and efficiently all winter long.

Summer is the best time to inspect your chimney while the weather is clear. We can easily spot structural issues, loose mortar, or cap damage that might have gone unnoticed during the winter. Getting your chimney serviced now means you are fully prepared for the first cold snap of autumn. Give us a call to book your inspection.
